Peer Review Process

„Forum of Poetics” reviewing practices:

1. reviewers for „Forum of Poetics” journal are individuals from outside the institution with which the editor-in-chief is affiliated;
2.at least two independent reviewers from outside that institution are asked to evaluate each article or text published in the magazine;
3. when dealing with texts written in a foreign language (a language other than Polish), at least one of the reviewers is affiliated with a foreign (non-Polish);
4. our reviewing practices involve a double-blind review process: authors and reviewers are not aware of each other’s identity;
5. each reviewer must sign a declaration of the absence of any conflict of interest; conflicts of interest are constituted by the following relationships between reviewer and author:
– direct personal relationships (kinship, legal association, conflict),

– relationships of professional subordination,

– direct scholarly collaboration within the two years previous to the review’s preparation.

Reviews are completed in writing and end with an unambiguous verdictin favor of either publishing or rejecting the article. The principles on which articles are accepted or rejected are published on the magazine’s home page.

Journal Open Access Policy
The publisher provides open access (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 International - Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License) to all journal content in line with the principle that freely accessible research enhances and accelerates global scientific development and knowledge exchange. The editors encourage authors to submit articles published in the journal to open access repositories (the publisher's final version) as long as they provide a link to the journal's website and the DOI number of the article.The journal does not charge authors any fees for the procedure of accepting and publishing texts.

Journal Ethics 

The Editorial Board of the "Forum Poetyki / Forum of Poetics" journal attaches great importance to maintaining the highest ethical standards in the publication process. In our publishing practice, we apply the publication ethics standards developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and implement recommendations in accordance with the Adam Mickiewicz University Rector's Order No. 238/2021/2022 (par. 4 sec. 2d).

The specific duties of all parties involved in the publishing process—the Editorial Board, Reviewers, and Authors—are outlined below.

I. Duties of the Editorial Board

• Publication decisions: The Editor-in-Chief and the editorial team are responsible for deciding which of the submitted articles should be published. Decisions are based solely on the scientific value of the text, its originality, and relevance to the journal's profile, taking into account current legal requirements (copyright, plagiarism prevention).
• Fair play (Objectivity): Submitted manuscripts are evaluated exclusively for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the Authors.
• Confidentiality: The Editorial Board is committed to not disclosing any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, and the publisher.
• Conflict of interest: Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in the Editorial Board members' own research without the explicit written consent of the Author.
• Responding to unethical behavior: The Editorial Board documents all instances of scientific misconduct. In cases of suspected violations of good publication practices, the Editorial Board takes steps outlined in the COPE flowcharts, including notifying appropriate entities (employing institutions, scientific societies, etc.).

II. Duties of Reviewers

• Contribution to editorial decisions: Scientific review (in the double-blind peer review model) assists the Editorial Board in making editorial decisions and, through communication with the Author, helps them improve the paper substantively.
• Promptness: Any selected reviewer who feels unqualified to evaluate the text or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should immediately notify the Editorial Board and withdraw from the review process.
• Confidentiality: Any manuscripts received for review are treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with third parties.
• Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the Author is inappropriate. Reviewers are obliged to express their views clearly with supporting rational arguments.
• Acknowledgment of sources: Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the Author and notify the Editorial Board of any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published papers of which they have personal knowledge.
• Conflict of interest: The reviewer is obliged to sign a declaration of no conflict of interest. A conflict of interest includes, but is not limited to: direct personal relationships with the author, professional subordination, or direct scientific collaboration within the last two years.

III. Duties of Authors

• Originality and plagiarism: Authors submit only their own, entirely original works. If the work and/or words of others have been used, this must be appropriately cited or quoted. Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is strictly unacceptable.
• Prevention of "ghostwriting" and "guest authorship": The journal ensures transparency of authorship. These phenomena are manifestations of scientific misconduct. In the case of multi-authored works, the Editorial Board requires disclosure of the contribution of individual Authors (affiliation, information on who is the author of the concepts, assumptions, and methods used in preparing the publication). The corresponding author bears the main responsibility for the submission.
• Multiple, redundant, or concurrent publication: An author should not publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior.
• Data access and retention: Authors may be asked to provide raw research data in connection with a paper for editorial review, and should be prepared to provide public access to such data.
• Disclosure and conflicts of interest: All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results of their work (including scientific grant numbers and names).
• Fundamental errors in published works: When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their own published work, it is their strict obligation to promptly notify the journal editor to retract the paper or publish an appropriate erratum.

Journal History

"Forum Poetyki / Forum of Poetics" was created under the grant "Poetics - new perspectives", financed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in the research module 1.1 of the National Program for the Development of Humanities 2013/2014. The project manager was prof. dr hab. Tomasz Mizerkiewicz.
